Description

The consortium mentioned above submitted its application for the design, construction, financing and operation of a toll bridge crossing the Strelasund in Northern Germany which had been called for tenders by DEGES (Deutsche Einheit Fernstraßenplanungs und -bau GmbH). The bridge is part of the B 96n (Federal Road 96n) which is to connect Mecklenburg Western Pomerania with the Island of Rügen.

The project covers a total length of 2.9 km with the actual Bridge of Strelasund having a length of 320 m.

The Island of Rügen is a popular and highly frequented holiday region. The current bridge connecting Rügen to the mainland will temporarily be closed due to shipping traffic, which during holiday periods results into lasting traffic jams along both parts of the bridge. The new bridge - running parallel to the existing bridge – eliminates these problems and guarantees a general promotion of tourism and economy of this region.
