Description

Mühldorf is the main railway junction for the Bavarian chemical triangle (Burghausen, Trostberg and Waldkraiburg). The line is already overloaded with freight traffic, resulting in waiting times for goods trains during rush hour.

To increase capacity, the Mühldorf station was rebuilt in several construction phases and the Altmühldorf - Tüßling section was upgraded to two tracks for a line speed of 160 km/h. The single-track Altmühldorf - Tüßling section was also upgraded to a double-track section.

The single-track Altmühldorf - Tüßling section was a central component of the ABS 38 Munich - Mühldorf - Freilassing extension line.

The objective for ABS 38 was an increase from 40 goods trains per day in the 2010 timetable to 110 goods trains in the Altmühldorf - Tüßling section.  Passenger trains will run hourly in the direction of Burghausen, Freilassing and Traunstein with service times extended into the evening.

  • 7 km double-track extension with increase of line speed from 120 km/h to 160 km/h
  • New construction of ESTW-Z Mühldorf
  • New construction of ESTW-A Tüßling
  • New construction/adaptation of 4 overpasses (SIMIS LC, EBÜT80)
  • Noise barriers approx. 4.3 km
  • Renewal of 4 overpasses, adaptation of 2 overpasses
  • Renewal of 1 viaduct
